World Environment Day – 2023
Marking the World Environment Day, 5th June 2023- Endeavour Global School’s Social responsibility.
Save Earth for Life, an NGO based in Siliguri in collaboration with Endeavour Global School and other local environmental organizations held a ‘green rally’ on 5th June 2023 to mark the 50th World Environment Day. The rally was aimed to raise awareness about environment conservation and promote sustainable practices. The rally was flagged off by Mr. Manik Dey, MMIC of Siliguri Municipal Corporation. The rally began from Air View More to Baghajatin Park, Siliguri with the theme “Beat Plastic Pollution” and the motto to save Earth for Life entitled “Together We Can, Together We Will”. Participants carried banners and placards displaying slogans like “Don’t be drastic, Say No to Plastic”, “More Valuable than Oil is our Soil”. The students of Endeavour Global School took proactive stance by taking part in the rally as a part of their commitment to sustainable living.
In the afternoon, Endeavour School also organized a talk program by Dr. Eklabya Sharma, an eminent Scientist and Environmentalist. Dr. Eklabya Sharma is the Strategic Advisor and Distinguished Senior Fellow from Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and the Environment (ATREE). An ecologist with over 35 years of experience in sustainable development, he has contributed to research and development as Regional Head of the G.B. Pant National Institute of Himalayan Environment in Sikkim, India and the Deputy Director General at the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD), Kathmandu, Nepal. The program was attended by the students, teachers, parents of Endeavour Global School and students and teachers from Himali Boarding School (Select), Siliguri. It was an outstanding presentation expressed so simply that the children could understand and relate to it.
From the rally in the morning to the presentation in the afternoon our young children were fully able to understand the global impact of environmental degradation and their role in however small way to make a difference.
